How do you decaffeinate your coffee?Updated 2 months ago

Like everything we do at TrueStart, we looked at the big picture to make the best possible coffee! Retaining the health benefits and antioxidants while delivering a full flavour decaf coffee will always be the priority for us 💪

Our decaf fresh coffee uses the Swiss Water Method. The Swiss Water Method is not commercially or environmentally viable for any instant coffee. So, after much research and testing, to decaffeinate our Barista Grade Instant Coffee, we use a food-grade organic solvent derived from algae. The process involves moistening the green beans with water in order to make the surface of the bean porous, then soaking them in the organic solvent for 30 minutes. This is repeated several times until the caffeine has dissolved. The beans are then steamed for some time in order to remove any remaining organic solvent. Afterwards, the beans are dried using warm air, then cooled with cold air. They are then roasted, ground and packed in the usual way to create our delicious, healthy decaf coffee! 💙
